UPSE - Welcome to UPSE
This course is the first step for any member who would like to become involved in UPSE. It is a very informative course for any member who would like to learn more about their union. It is also a pre-requisite for all other UPSE sponsored educationals.
This course includes a history of UPSE, the union’s organizational structure, the role of the steward as well as brief overviews of grievance and bargaining processes.

UPSE – Steward Level I
A member contemplating taking on a Steward role within their local or members who have been elected to the role but have not yet been trained are encouraged to apply. No member may represent UPSE as a Steward until they have taken the mandatory training.
As per UPSE Policy participants must have completed the Welcome to UPSE course before attending any other educational.

UPSE – Steward Level II
This second level course builds on the framework of steward skills established in our Level I course. This course focuses on representation issues: knowing your membership, working with your union executive, grievance preparation, problem solving, conflict resolution and representation skills.
Applicants must have completed the Welcome to UPSE and Steward Level I courses.

CLC and PEI FEDERATION OF LABOUR - Steward Level III
The Steward as Leader - highlights the basic leadership role of stewards in the local union and the responsibilities that this role entails in the face of a changing union. The theme of this course is how to effectively build a union that is fair and inclusive for all members, what kind of committments and strategies are required from the steward, the executive of the local and the union itself. Responsibilities such as human rights and the duty of fair representation will be highlighted.
The Steward as Leader is third in a series of CLC Steward courses. Participants should already be well grounded in basic steward training. As per UPSE Policy participants must have completed the Welcome to UPSE course before attending any other educational.

UPSE - Steward Level IV
The Steward as Educator - is designed to assist activists develop skills and confidence in educating members around union issues in the workplace, issues that affect the workplace and community issues of the day.
As per UPSE Policy participants must have completed the Welcome to UPSE course before attending any other educational.

UPSE - Voting Delegates
All first time convention delegates, or returning delegates who would like a refresher in parliamentary procedure, are invited to attend this course. This course happens annually in the fall before convention.
