UPSE has received many inquiries about the $1.07 premium for Health PEI members who work full-time. We initially believed that any delays due to internal processes would be resolved by June.
This week, UPSE reached out to Health PEI to find out why the $1.07 premium has not been put into effect yet. We were informed that they are still working through their internal processes. When we asked for a timeline, we were told there isn’t one available.
UPSE expressed our concerns and frustrations, as members have been waiting for four months, and the pilot project has a one-year duration. We are worried about how the Employer plans to assess the effectiveness of this pilot project when it is already halfway through. Many members feel disrespected and unappreciated due to these delays.
Please note that UPSE does not have control over how this Memorandum of Agreement is carried out, and we have not been provided with a further timeline. If you would like an update on the status of the $1.07 premium, please contact your HR representative.
In the meantime, UPSE will look into what options we have to ensure that this benefit, which was agreed upon through collective bargaining, is implemented.
