We communicated previously that a significant benefit negotiated this round was an expansion to the Letter of Understanding (LOU)# 4 “Service Credits for Steps in Pay.” This provision was expanded to include all classifications.
For clarification on “Service Credits,” if a new member to Health PEI has worked for a previous employer in a similar classification, for example a Speech Language pathologist in Ontario for 8 years, the Employer is now providing an opportunity for this service to be recognized for service credits which will place you in a higher step in the pay scale level identified in Schedule A-1.
It is important to note that under the new collective agreement, the opportunity to submit the information under this provision has been extended from sixty (60) days (April 20) to ninety (90) days (up until May 20, 2025) from the signing of the collective agreement.
If you are intending to action this benefit, you will be required to contact your previous Employer(s) and request a letter (on their letterhead if applicable) that clearly states the job title and number of service hours worked for their organization. This letter should be provided to your Human Resources Manager before the 90-day window stipulated.
