Messaging re: Vacation/Carryover
Attention UPSE Health PEI members:
It has been brought to the attention of the Union that the Employer is advising our Health members they need to start utilizing their vacation prior to the end of fiscal year or the excess will be paid out.
While we encourage our members to take some time to reset and recharge if operations allow you to utilize your vacation time, the union would like to inform Health PEI members that the parties agreed that members were allowed to carry vacation time over to the end of 2025-26 fiscal year. The rationale for this agreement was because the parties acknowledge staffing challenges exist, other health bargaining units were afforded the ability to carry their vacation banks to end of fiscal 2025-26, and many Health PEI members were not approved for many vacations due to operations.
