International Workers’ Day (May 1, 2025)

This International Workers’ Day, we face a defining moment.

The billionaire class is no longer hiding its agenda. Across the globe, they are openly dismantling public services, attacking democratic institutions, and undermining workers’ rights — all to concentrate power in the hands of a few.

Eighty years ago, we united to defeat fascism. From that victory came multilateralism, democracy, human rights, and strong public services. Those gains are now under sustained attack.

This is not just about budget cuts or deregulation. It is about remaking the state to serve corporate and authoritarian interests. Public services and unions are being targeted because we are the last line of defence — and the first line of hope.

When we provide healthcare, education, and care based on need — not profit — we show that another world is possible. That is why they are so determined to destroy us. But we will not back down.

From Geneva to every frontline, workers are rising. We stand with UN staff protesting devastating cuts. We stand with every public service worker defending justice, democracy, and dignity.

The stakes are high. But so is our power.

This May Day, let the fightback begin.

Organize. Mobilize. Resist.

Build a future that puts people and planet before profit.
