Audrey Wallace is UPSE’s member of the year. Jim Ryan, UPSE’s Third Vice President, said Audrey has advocated for decades for members as a shop steward, and then a chief steward, and director of her local. She has always brought a strong voice to the table and does not shy away from challenging the status quo. As a union representative, it’s important that we are willing to voice our opinions and represent the membership. An activist must always be a voice for the people they represent. Audrey has never had to try to be a good advocate or unionist … it’s just who she is. As a shop steward Audrey will never back down in the effort to represent a member. Her tenacity makes her a sought after shop steward when members are in need. Her commitment requires a great deal of her personal time which is a challenge for anyone! However, Audrey goes above and beyond without complaint. She embodies all that a member of the year candidate should be.
