National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (September 30)

Posted September 27, 2024, 2:24pm

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. UPSE stands in solidarity with Indigenous communities across Canada. This day serves as a reminder of the painful legacy of residential schools and the ongoing impact of colonization on Indigenous peoples. As a union, we recognize the importance of acknowledging the truth and working towards reconciliation. We are committed to supporting Indigenous rights, advocating for meaningful reconciliation efforts, and addressing the systemic issues that continue to affect Indigenous communities. Wearing orange on September 30 is a powerful way to show support and solidarity with Indigenous peoples, honour the survivors, remember the children who never made it home, and show our support for the healing and reconciliation of Indigenous communities. #EveryChildMatters #OrangeShirtDay
