Our Young Workers Committee had a productive meeting yesterday at UPSE HQ, and we’re excited to share some of the great work happening behind the scenes!
Did you know that 6 out of the 7 committee members are Stewards? And two are also serving in Director and Assistant Director roles. We’re proud to represent young workers and lead from the front.
Here’s what the committee is working on:
Planning a Trivia Night in Summerside this spring — stay tuned as the committee is just waiting on final dates from the venue!
Organizing another member activity for the Charlottetown area — stay tuned for more details.
Launching a new social media campaign to engage and connect with more young workers.
Putting together a list of resolutions to bring forward at the next UPSE Convention.
Exploring new ways to educate our membership on pensions and the Public Sector Group Insurance Plan (PSGIP).
Providing feedback and new ideas to UPSE’s Education and Organizing Officer to help shape future learning opportunities.
Reviewing 13 applications for the Steve Mollins Young Workers Bursaries — we’ll be reaching out to the two recipients soon!
And there’s even more good news! 
Kathlene recently attended the Board of Directors meeting in April and secured approval to award two additional bursaries starting in 2026 — that means four deserving young members will receive support for their education in the years ahead!
The future of our union is strong, and it’s being shaped by passionate, dedicated young workers.
