The UPSE Young Workers Committee (YWC) has been busy lately. They met just before the Convention to finalize their plan for discussing their resolution, which was carried on Saturday. The committee’s resolution will have UPSE revise its policy on bursaries and scholarships to include part-time study in the eligibility criteria! Additionally, the resolution calls for lobbying the provincial government and PEI post-secondary institutions to adopt similar measures, promoting equity and access to education for all learners.
The committee also took steps to reduce barriers to participation, ensuring that every member can engage in union events and activities; and they mapped out new missions to boost member engagement from now through spring — including an information-sharing campaign and micro-learning opportunities.
The YWC is on a mission to make our union more connected, inclusive, and unstoppable.
