The Canadian Health Coalition, with the support of UPSE and various unions, delivered a crucial message to the Federal, Provincial, and Territorial Health Ministers convening in Charlottetown. The message emphasized the urgent need for improved working conditions in the healthcare system, as one of the keys to resolving the current staffing shortages.
The Coalition urged the government to refrain from using millions of dollars to hire private “travel” nurses, as this is not a sustainable solution in Canada’s public healthcare system. Instead, the government should invest in hiring permanent staff to address the crippling staff shortages.
