Heat Warning in Effect for PEI

Posted June 19, 2024, 8:23am

A heat warning has been issued for all of PEI and is in effect now (Wednesday) through to Thursday:

Maximum temperature today: 29 to 31 degrees Celsius (inland Humidex 35 to 37)

Maximum temperature Thursday: 29 to 32 degrees Celsius (inland Humidex near 38)

Take extra precautions when working outdoors. Stay hydrated, take breaks, get shade when possible, and monitor for warning signs of heat stroke. Stay Safe!

During the summer season, many Island workers spend a significant amount of time working outdoors. As a result daily exposure to the harmful effects of the sun is common. Excessive exposure to UV rays from the sun can cause damage to the skin, eyes, and can also increase the risk of heat stress and heat stroke.
