Steps to joining UPSE.

    A confidential first conversation

    Meet privately with a UPSE organizer. Ask anything about unions and how joining would work at your workplace.

  2. 02

    Build an organizing committee

    Bring together a small group of trusted coworkers from across the workplace. UPSE helps them prepare for the next conversations with colleagues.

  3. 03

    Talk with your coworkers

    Meet one-on-one with the people you work with, outside of work and not on employer time. UPSE helps you prepare for questions and any pushback from management.

  4. 04

    Sign cards and apply for certification

    Once enough cards are signed in person, UPSE helps file the certification application. The PEI Labour Relations Board then handles the process, which may include a vote.

  5. 05

    Bargain your first agreement

    UPSE supports your workplace through the process of negotiating a first collective agreement with your employer.
