Unions Show Solidarity in PEI. Higher Wages Needed for All Workers! (Hosted by CUPE Prince Edward Island)

Karen Jackson, UPSE President, speaking at today’s Rally for Fair Wages in Charlottetown at Confederation Landing Park. PEI’s cost of living increases are the highest in Canada, but workers are falling behind! All workers in PEI deserve fair wage increases.

Unions joined forces today with the public to send a strong message to politicians. Front line workers in both the public and private sectors who showed up during the pandemic are the heroes, keeping Islanders safe despite the risks to themselves and their families. Poor working conditions, chronic understaffing, low wages, sickness and stress did not stop these workers.

It’s time we paid our heroes back! It’s time we pay them a fair living wage. It’s time we stand together and demand fairness for all!
