Today is Canada’s National Day Against Gun Violence, a day to honour the victims of gun violence and all those affected by these tragedies.
It’s also a day to generate awareness about the problem. In 2022, over 1,334 people were victims of fire-arm related homicide in Canada, a 9% increase from 2021.
It doesn’t have to be this way – gun violence is not inevitable. It is preventable. Together, we can make Canada a safer and more peaceful place for everyone. By observing this day, we can show our solidarity with those affected by gun violence, and our commitment to making Canada a safer place for everyone.
